Yasuhiro Suzuki is a co-founder of REONA Sushi Tokyo and the founder of MagicalTrip, a Japan-based travel experience company whose tours were ranked No. 1 in Japan in Tripadvisor’s annual Best of the Best rankings in 2024 and 2025. After years of building experiences for international guests through MagicalTrip, he became increasingly interested in creating a deeper kind of food experience, one that would help people not only enjoy sushi, but also understand the culture, techniques, and thinking behind it. That idea became one of the foundations of REONA Sushi Tokyo.
Born and raised in Tokyo, Suzuki has spent much of his life exploring the city’s food culture, from neighborhood izakayas to high-end restaurants. This perspective shaped his belief that a great dining experience is not only about quality, but also about context, explanation, and the feeling of truly understanding what is in front of you. At REONA, he works on planning and experience design with the goal of helping guests connect more deeply with sushi and Japanese hospitality.
His writing focuses on sushi experiences, Tokyo dining, the background behind REONA, and the broader question of how food can become a gateway to understanding Japanese culture. He writes not as a sushi chef, but as a founder, planner, and lifelong sushi enthusiast who has spent years thinking about how people encounter Japan for the first time.
